Oct 2009 – Nov 2009| Front-end Developer/Designer at Global Personals
Oct 2007 – Oct 2009 | Web Development Manager at The Local Radio Company
As Web Development Manager for The Local Radio Company, I am responsible for the group’s radio station websites, with regard to both the content and the commercial aspect of each site. TLRC has a total of 20 radio station websites in addition to the company’s own PLC website. I lead a team of four people plus a number of freelance designers.
My main responsibility is to ensure that our radio stations are selling engaging and successful online campaigns to clients, primarily in the form of microsites that can include competitions, online games and downloadable vouchers. My managerial role entails the continuous guidance of the sales teams at all of our stations as to what radio combined with an online presence can offer, along with supplying regular unique ideas to prospective clients. The company’s web revenue has increased year on year by over 300%. I have also led a team to pitch commercial website management to other radio groups and sales houses.
My latest responsibility lies with the radio stations’ websites as a whole. The group has recently undertaken the launch of brand new content managed websites. This involved working with the CMS company to create a product that we could take directly to the radio stations. Training was given by myself to each of the station’s web content editors on how to use the CMS. I continue to provide the editors with technical information and advice on how to improve the content and maintain the listeners’ interest as well as adding commercial value.
I am also still actively involved in designing microsites for clients. This was the role I first had when I joined the group as the company’s sole Web Designer prior to July of 2008, before I was promoted to my current position.
Fireworks, Photoshop and Dreamweaver are the three main software packages I use. Flash, Illustrator and Audition are also used on a regular basis. All my websites are built to W3C standards (valid html and CSS).
I am also required to create the group’s logos, stationary, flyers, car branding and any other design projects that can be created in-house.
